Springfield, Mass. – January 15, 2019 – Springfield College is excited to host National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Saturday, February 16. On that day, girls in grades K through 6 are invited to attend clinics at Springfield College where they will participate in several sports and activities and be able to meet student-athletes from multiple women's teams.

The Springfield College teams that will be attending are field hockey, softball, women's volleyball, women's tennis and women's soccer. The Pride Dance Team will also be joining us on February 16.

As a new feature this year, Springfield College will be teaming up with Girls on the Run, a transformational learning program for young girls that will teach life skills through dynamic, conversation-based lessons and running games. Girls on the Run will have a station set up at National Girls and Women in Sports Day at Springfield College.

"We are excited to host National Girls and Women in Sports Day at Springfield College this year," said Michelle Scecina '97 G'01, Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Enhancement.  "We look forward to celebrating the achievements and accomplishments of girls and women in sport.  It is a great opportunity for our student-athletes to engage with the young girls in our community and to show them how athletics can make a difference in their lives."
