Tampa Bay, Fla. - April 3, 2017 - Former Springfield College football standout Max Nacewicz '16 was announced to the 24-man roster for the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League after the conclusion of their training camp this weekend.
The five-time World Champion Tampa Bay Storm will enter its 30th season in the Arena Football League in 2017. The 24-man roster is comprised of 17 veterans and seven rookies, and the team experienced a complete roster overhaul with 20 players new for the 2017 campaign.
"Max has always been a tremendous example of what Springfield College football represents," said Springfield College head football coach Mike Cerasuolo. "Achieving his dream of playing professional football is a testament to his hard work, persistence, and dedication."
Nacewicz is one of the more decorated Springfield College football student-athletes in recent memory, and earned four All-America honors in 2015 from from USA College Football, The Associated Press, D3football.com, and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). Nacewicz will go down as one of the all-time greats at Springfield as he owns the program record for tackles-for-loss (54) and sacks (34), while his 299 tackles is the third-highest total in program history.
After concluding his collegiate career, Nacewicz became represented by ProStar Sports Agency, led by the efforts of Paul Sheehy '85. Nacewicz, who hails from Sandy Hook, Conn., worked out for NFL scouts at the UMass Pro Day in 2016, and also earned workouts with the Canadian Football League before landing with Tampa Bay.
CBS Sports Network returns as the AFL's television partner for the fifth consecutive season and will televise a slate of 18 regular season games and one semifinal contest. Tampa Bay and Nacewciz will appear nine times on national television in the next four months.
