Springfield, Mass. - Novemember 13, 2017 - Springfield College's Jake Ross (Northampton, Mass.) was tabbed to the D3hoops.com Preseason All-America Teams coming off a standout first season with the Pride.
A total of 25 student-athletes from across the country were recognized, with Ross being named to the D3hoops.com Preseason All-America Fourth Team. Ross was one of just two sophomores in the nation to garner the preseason attention.
A local product from nearby Northampton, Mass., Ross put together one of the best seasons of any first-year in all of college basketball last season. His 22.7 points per game wass the fourth most among all freshmen in the country, while his 13 double doubles was also the fourth-highest total among rookies in the nation.
Ross ranked second in the NEWMAC in scoring with 22.7 points per game, and his 9.0 rebounds per contest was also second best. He registered a conference-best 46 steals, while his 81 assists ranked seventh as he averaged just over 33 minutes per game. Ross scored at least 20 points in 19 games, including four 30-point outings. as he went on to be named the D3hoops.com National Rookie of the Year, D3hoops.com Northeast Rookie of the Year, Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Rookie of the Year, and the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Rookie of the Year.
Springfield will begin the 2017-18 campaign when it hosts crosstown rival Western New England at 8 pm on Wednesday.
