Charlie Brock '76 G'80 will enter his 21st season as the head coach of men's basketball at Springfield College and his 39th season as a head coach overall during the 2018-19 academic year. Brock’s achievements as a coach are certainly impressive, as he has taken three schools to the NCAA Division III Tournament twice and has an overall, 38-year record of 545-460 for a winning percentage of .542. At Springfield, he is 316-231(.577).

Brock, however, is far from just a successful coach; he’s also a committed educator and community leader and has been recognized with the NABC Guardian of the Game Award for Advocacy, for his commitment to the sport of basketball over the course of his career.

The 2017-18 season was filled with plenty of professional highlights for Brock.  He was named the President of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and was chosen for the 2018 Glenn Robinson Award, which is presented annually to the top Division III coach in the nation, following Springfield's historic postseason run to the NCAA Division III Championship Final Four.

Over the course of his career, Brock has served on the prestigious NABC Board of Directors, as well as the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Committee. Locally, Brock is the facilitator of the Springfield College Pride’s Literacy Awards program, which is funded by the Springfield Office of Community Development. The purpose of this program is to promote the importance of reading to children, targeting first through third grades. He is also a contributing writer to the popular NABC publication, Courtside.

As an undergraduate at Springfield College, Brock was a three-year member of the men's basketball squad coached by former director of athletics Ed Bilik. Brock also served as an assistant coach under Bilik for three seasons (1976-1979).

A native of Hopkinton, Mass., Brock earned his bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation counseling at Springfield College in 1976 and a master’s degree in physical education at Springfield in 1980. He was recently promoted to full professor of physical education. Brock has three children, William, Christiana, and Chase.
