Golf In 11th After First Round of Wildcat Spring Invitational

Cranston, R.I. - April 21, 2018 - Playing in their final tournament of the season, the Springfield College golf team is in 11th-place after the opening round of the Wildcat Spring Invitational, held at Cranston Country Club.

Among the 19 teams in the competition, Springfield totaled the 11th-fewest strokes on Saturday with a team score of 329. Western New England leads the field with a 306, and is followed by Husson (309), Providence College (315), Salem State (319), and Rhode Island College (321).

Mike Strong (Newington, Conn.) registered Springfield's lowest score of the day as he completed 18 holes with an 80 as he is currently tied for 27th individually.  Matt Gazaille (Palmer, Mass.) produced an 82, Jake Raichle (Bethlehem, N.H.) notched an 83, and Doug Shane (Hamden, Conn.) turned in an 84.  Travis Price (Reading, Mass.) registered an 88 to round out Springfield's efforts on the day.
