Golf Finishes Season With 12th-Place Showing at Wildcat Spring Invitational

Cranston, R.I. - April 22, 2018 - The Springfield College golf team concluded its season by finishing 12th in the Wildcat Spring Invitational, which was played at Cranston Country Club.

A day after posting 329 strokes, Springfield totaled a team score of 326 on Sunday en route to a two-day total of 655.  Husson won the competition with 602 strokes, Western New England (614) finished as the runner up, while Providence (629), Salem State (632), and Endicott (634) rounded out the top five. 

Mike Strong (Newington, Conn.) closed out the season on a high note as he fired as 78 to finish tied for 21st with a two-day total of 158.  Matt Gazaille (Palmer, Mass.) also broke 80 with a 79 to finish tied for 36th with a 161, while Jake Raichle (Bethlehem, N.H.) posted an 82, one-shot better than Saturday, en route to registering a two-day tournament score of 165.  Additionally, both Doug Shane (Hamden, Conn.) and Travis Price (Reading, Mass.) each tallied 87's on Sunday, as Shane completed the tournament with a 171 and Price with a 175.
