Strong and Raichle Each Shoot 73 To Pace Golf In Opening Round of Duke Nelson Invitational

Middlebury, Vt. - September 15, 2018 - Led by the duo of Mike Strong (Newington, Conn.) and Jake Raichle (Bethlehem, N.H.), the Springfield College golf team is in 13th place after the opening round of the Duke Nelson Invitational on Saturday at the Ralph Myhre Golf Club.

Strong and Raichle are each tied for 10th place as individuals after they each turned in rounds of 73 on Saturday afternoon.  As a team, Springfield combined for 306 strokes, the 13th-best total among the 22-team field.   NYU posted a 291 for first-place honors after day one, closely followed by Williams (293), Johnson & Wales (294), and Trinity and Amherst (296).

Matt Gazaille (Palmer, Mass.)  registered a 78 as the Pride's third-best golfer, while Liam Whitman (Westfield, Mass.) turned in an 82 and Corey Roya (Manchester, Conn.) carded an 83. 

The Pride will conclude the two-day invitational on Sunday morning.
