Golf Competes In Opening Day of Williams Invitational

Williamstown, Mass. - September 22, 2018 - The Springfield College golf team competed in the opening round of the Williams Fall Invitational on Saturday at the Taconic Golf Club.

The Pride struggled to score on the Par 71 course as it totaled 327 strokes to sit in 15th among the 20 teams in the field.

Mike Strong (Newington, Conn.) and Corey Roya (Manchester, Conn.) paced Springfield as they each scored an 81 on Saturday, closely followed by Matt Gazaille 's (Palmer, Mass.) round of 82. Jake Raichle (Bethlehem, N.H.) and Liam Whitman (Westfield, Mass.) both posted 83's to round out the Pride's scores. 

Host Williams leads the field with a 296, followed by Babson (303), Tufts (304), Husson (305), and St. John Fisher (307).   

The Pride will finish up the two-day invitational on Sunday morning.
