Williamstown, Mass. - September 23, 2018 - The Springfield College golf team finished 16th in the Williams Fall Invitational on Sunday as the two-day event wrapped up at the Taconic Golf Club.
As a team, Springfield combined for 650 strokes. Host Williams College placed first in the 20 team field, shooting a two-day total of 588. Husson took second with a 605, and was followed by Trinity (607), St. John Fisher (609), and Babson and Johnson & Wales (613) tied for fifth.
Mike Strong (Newington, Conn.) again was Springfield's best finisher on the weekend, as he turned in a 77 on Sunday to conclude the two-day tournament tied for 41st individually with a 158. Jake Raichle (Bethlehem, N.H.) posted a second-round score of 80 to finish his weekend with a 163, while Matt Gazaille (Palmer, Mass.) also had a 163 after carding an 81 on Sunday.
A day after registering an 81, Corey Roya (Manchester, Conn.) shot an 85 for the Pride, while Liam Whitman (Westfield, Mass.) concluded his weekend with a two-day mark of 172, highlighted by a first-round score of 83.
Springfield will now turn its focus on the NECC Championships, which will take place this upcoming weekend at Wachusett Country Club.
