Golf Tied For Fifth After First Round of Blazers Fall Invitational

South Hadley, Mass. - October 6, 2018 - The Springfield College golf team sits tied for fifth among the 17 teams competing in the Blazers Fall Invitational, which was held at the Ledges Golf Club on Saturday.

Springfield totaled 313 strokes on the day and is tied with host Elms for fifth place.  Husson leads the field after posting a 299 and is followed by Western New England (300), Amherst (305), and Westfield State (312).

Mike Strong (Newington, Conn.) and Corey Roya (Manchester, Conn.) are currently tied for 10th place as they each carded rounds of 76 to shoot +4 on the afternoon.  Jake Raichle (Bethlehem, N.H.) registered a 79 and Matt Gazaille (Palmer, Mass.) turned in a round of 82. Joe Piwowarski (Cumberland, Maine) was Springfield's other competitor on the day and scored a 90. 

The Pride will finish up the two-day invitational on Sunday afternoon.
