Cape Cod, Mass. - October 22, 2018 - The Springfield College golf team concluded their final tournament of the season with a 16th place finish at the 84th NEIGA Championships on Monday.
Springfield totaled 663 strokes on the weekend, with its second-round score of 628 proving to be the better of the two days. Babson won the two-day event with a 613 to rally past Williams as the Beavers produced a team score of 300 on Monday. Williams finished with a 614, while Middlebury (618), Husson (627) and Nichols (628) rounded out the top five.
Mike Strong (Newington, Conn.) wrapped up an especially consistent first semester as he led the Pride and finished tied for 19th among the 114 players in the field. Strong turned in a 78 a day after posting an 80 to score a +14, 158. Corey Roya (Manchester, Conn.) signed for a two-day total of 165, highlighted by a first-round score of 78, while Jake Raichle (Bethlehem, N.H.) registered a 171, including a second-round score of 80. Matt Gazaille (Palmer, Mass.) was Springfield's next-best finisher with a 175, including an 89 on Monday and Doug Shane (Hamden, Conn.) was right behind him with a 176 after recording a second-round score of 83.
