Seattle, Wash. - March 24, 2017 - The Springfield College men's gymnastics team finished fourth in the 2017 USA Gymnastics (USAG) Men's Collegiate Championships on Friday afternoon at Everett Community College.
As a team, Springfield 373.850 points.
For the Pride, Chris Graff (Old Bridge, N.J.) scored a 75.800 to finish third in the all-around competition, while teammate Joshua Dieker (Ovieda, Fla.) placed fifth with a 74.400. Both earned All-America honors as the Pride was the only school in the nation to have two student-athletes finish in the top five of the all-around.
Corey Matthews (Kernerville, N.C.) produced Springfield's best score on the floor exercise, a 13.450, while Graff had Springfield's highest mark on both the rings, a 13.000, and the pommel horse, a 12.600.
Springfield's best rotation on the night was the vault, with four of five competitors scoring over 13.000. Stephen Lewis (Baltimore, Md.) led the way with a 13.800, while both Graff and Alex Campagnone (Johnston, R.I.) registered 13.500's.
In Saturday's individual finals, Springfield will be represented by Matthews on the floor exercise, Graff on the rings and pommel horse, Lewis on the vault, Haas on the parallel bars, and Ordonez on the high bar.
