Haas and Murphy Earn All-America Honors In Second Day of USAG Collegiate Championships

Annapolis, Md. - March 30, 2019 - The Springfield College men's gymnastics team had six student-athletes compete in second day of the USAG Collegiate Championships on Saturday afternoon at the Naval Academy.

A day after putting together their best team performance of the team to finish fifth in the team competition, the Pride produced a pair of USAG All-America performances on Saturday.  In his first season with Springfield, John Murphy (Hilo, Hawaii) delivered a tremendous showing on the floor exercise, totaling a 13.500 to finish tied for third.  On the parallel bars, Jannik Haas (San Jose, Calif.) finished fifth after being credited with a 13.050 to pick up the national honor on the event for the third time in his impressive career. 

Kyle Lukaesko (Connellsville, Pa.) posted a 10.350 on the horizontal bar to take seventh, while Jack Vollo (Rochester, N.Y.) tied for seventh on the pommel horse after totaling a 12.300. 

Nick Cramer (Lincoln, Neb.) scored a 12.500 on the rings to take eighth, and Stephen Lewis (Baltimore, Md.) was awarded a 13.250 on the vault to take eighth place as well. 

Next Saturday, Springfield College will host the ECAC Championships starting at 2 pm in Blake Arena.
