LaCroix Named NEWMAC Men's Lacrosse Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Boston, Mass. - May 1, 2017 - Springfield College's Matthew LaCroix (Westfield, Mass.) has been recognized for his impressive performances last week, as the senior midfielder was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Lacrosse Co-Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference offices on Monday.

LaCroix, a Physical Education major at Springfield College, had an incredible week, leading to a pair of wins for the Pride over Clark and MIT. In Springfield College's 15-9 win over Clark, LaCroix won 19-of-27 draws and matched his career best with 12 ground balls, before returning to Stagg Field on Saturday and going 15-for-25 in the "x" while securing seven ground balls to help the Pride clinch its ninth NEWMAC Regular Season Championship in program history.

The Pride, which will be the No. 1 seed in the NEWMAC Championship Tournament, will host No. 4 Babson on Wednesday, May 3 on Stagg Field.
