Boston, Mass. - October 3, 2016 - Springfield College's Luke Alvaro (Chicopee, Mass.) has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference offices on Monday.
This marks the second-straight week that the senior forward has been named the NEWMAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, and third time this season.
Alvaro, a General Studies major at Springfield College, led the Pride to a 2-0 week, including wins over Southern Vermont and NEWMAC-foe Clark University. In a 4-0 win over Southern Vermont, Alvaro notched the game's third goal, while inSaturday's critical conference match with Clark, Alvaro notched a pair of goals, including the game-winning header with 6:51 to play to lift the Pride to victory. With 13 goals and 28 points on the year, Alvaro now leads the NEWMAC in both statistical categories.
This week, the Pride will host Framingham State on Tuesday at 4 p.m. before hitting the road and traveling to WPI for a critical NEWMAC match on Saturday at 5 p.m.
