Deckel Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

Springfield, Mass. - November 13, 2017 - Junior Brad Deckel (Lansdale, Pa.) of the Springfield College men's soccer program has been recognized for his hard work in the classroom as well as on the field, as he earned College Sports Information Directors Association of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® honors, announced late last week.

Springfield College was one of five Division III institutions in District 1 to have both a male and female student-athlete earn CoSIDA Academic All-District® honors, as Mikaela Coady of the women's soccer team, along with Deckel, were both selected for the distinguished honor. Deckel is now eligible for Academic All-America accolades, which will be voted upon later this fall.

Deckel, a junior defender and Criminal Justice and Finance double major at Springfield College, has also played a major role in the Pride's success this season, as the junior has registered a team-leading eight goals to go along with two assists, but has played a bigger role on the defensive end of the field, where he and the Pride's defensive unit has held opponents to just 0.46 goals per game and a shooting percentage of .056, while also postinga program-record 13 shutouts.
