Springfield, Mass. - November 12, 2018 - For the third-consecutive season, senior Brad Deckel (Lansdale, Pa.) of the Springfield College men's soccer team was honored for his hard work both on the field and in the classroom, as the midfielder earned College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Google Cloud Academic All-District® honors, announced late last week.
Deckel, a double major in Criminal Justice and Finance, produced a grade-point average of 3.97 to date, and helped the Pride to its second New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship in the last three seasons. This marks the third-consecutive Academic All-District honor for Deckel, who was named the program's first-ever Academic All-America® honoree following the 2017 season.
Deckel, a senior midfielder at Springfield College, also helped lead the maroon and white to its third-consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament, as he produced 15 points on the year including six goals and three assists. Defensively, Deckel also played an important role on the defensive side of the ball, as he helped the Pride's defensive unit to a goals-against average of 0.77, which was the third-best mark among teams that compete in the NEWMAC.
Deckel is now both eligible for Academic All-America accolades, which will be voted upon later this fall.
