Men’s Swimming and Diving Competes In Second Day of TCNJ Invitational

Ewing, N.J. – December 4, 2010 – The Springfield College men’s swimming and diving team competed in the second day of the TCNJ Invitational on Saturday. Brian Sobel had Springfield’s top finish as he took second in the one-meter diving competition with an NCAA qualifying score.

The College of New Jersey lead the competition with 1,175.5 points, followed by Johns Hopkins (780.5), Washington & Lee (557.5), and Springfield College (544.5). West Chester (207) and Rowan (92) round out the scoring.

Scott Mackstutis tied for seventh in the 100 fly in 53.22 and also placed eighth in the 100 free with a time of 48.31. Jason Scotto finished in eighth in the 500 free in 4:51.06, while in the 200 breast, Sean Pennington posted a 2:16.03, good enough for sixth place.

The 400 free relay team of Nolan Manley, Josh Ernst, Scotto, and Mackstutis registered a sixth-place finish in 3:13.79.

Sobel finished runner-up in the one-meter diving competition with a total score of 535.95, Kenny Pancoast scored 471.30 to finish in fifth. Both met national qualifyin marks for the second-straight day.
