Williams Cruises Past Men’s Swimming and Diving, 181-108

Williamstown, Mass. – January 22, 2011Brian Sobel continued to excel in his final season for the Pride as he swept the diving competition, however Williams College got the best of Springfield College this afternoon in a dual men’s swimming and diving meet. The Ephs won by the score of 181-108.

For Springfield, Travis Morse was victorious in the 200 yard backstroke as he touched 2:01.13.

The Pride also received points from several third place finishes. Nolan Manley swam well in the 200 yard freestyle, snagging third place in 1:48.70. Morse added to his first-place finish in the 200 yard backstroke with a third-place finish in the 100 yard back, clocking in at :55.91. In the 100 yard freestyle, Josh Ernst finished with a time of 0:49.48, good for third.

In diving, Sobel was dominant, sweeping both the one and three-meter events. In the one-meter Sobel cruised with a score 320.48, beating out teammate Brooks Farrar, who scored a 309.90. In the three-meter Sobel distanced himself from the pack with a score of 349.80, with Farrar finishing second again with 315.68.

The Pride will be home next Saturday to host Babson at 1:00 pm in Art Linkletter Natatorium.
