Men's Swimming and Diving Races to Top-Five Finish at Ithaca Invitational

Ithaca, N.Y. – December 7, 2014 – The Springfield College men's swimming and diving team wrapped up the Ithaca Invitational on Sunday afternoon, finishing with a score of 671 points, good for fifth place overall over the three-day meet.

Leading off on the afternoon was freshman Roberto Morales (Westfield, Mass.) in the 1650 Free, when he finished first overall for Springfield with a time of 18:16.04. Two spots behind Morales was Dan Dupuis (Wilbraham, Mass.) who finished with a time of 18:42.85.

Next, in the 100 Free, Hayden Cassidy (Ada, Mich.) was Springfield's top finisher when he posted a time of 48.87, followed by Jimmy Stinehart (Southwick, Mass.), who finished with a 49.38. In the 200 Back, Daniel Fay (Yorktown, N.Y.) and Austin Von Heeringen (Germantown, Md.) finished ninth and eleventh overall, respectively, with Fay touching at 1:58.09 and Von Heeringen at 1:59.08.

The most impressive swim of the afternoon for the Pride came in the 100 Breast, when junior Michael Normoyle (Springfield, Mass.) posted a time of 2:09.36, good for third place overall, finishing behind a pair of swimmers from Division-I Cornell University.

Lastly, in the 4x100 Free Relay, the team of Normoyle, Cassidey, Fay and Kent Parsons (Hamilton, Mass.) posted a time of 3:14.60 for a top-seven finish to round out the day
