Men's Swimming and Diving Finishes the Final Day of Ithaca Invitational

Ithaca, N.Y. - December 6, 2015 - The Springfield College men's swimming and diving program finished the third and final day of the Ithaca Invitational at the A&E Center Aquatics Pavilion hosted by Ithaca College.  The Pride competed against 11 other teams, two of which compete at the Division I level. 

Springfield opened up competition with the 1650 free, as Roberto Morales (Westfield, Mass.) captured 11th, touching the wall in 18:00.12. 

Michael Normoyle (Springfield, Mass.) posted an impressive seventh place finish in the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:11.65 after claiming a 14th place finish in the 100 IM in a time of 54.85. 

Kent Parsons (Hamilton, Mass.) also had a strong showing in the 200 breaststroke, placing 10th with a time of 2:14.00. 

In the 200 backstroke, Austin Von Heeringen (Germanstown, Md.) took 11th place posting a mark of 1:55.86, while Daniel Fay (Yorktown, N.Y.) finished 19th with a time of 2:00.01. 

The effort of Normoyle, Sammy Grudzien (Fiskdale, Mass.), Fay and Parsons combined for a seventh place finish in the 400 free relay posting a time of 3:14.47 in the final event of the invitational. 

The Pride placed ninth out of 11 teams during the three day event, as Cornell University claimed first while SUNY Geneseo and La Salle University rounded out the top three. 

Springfield competes again next Saturday against Middlebury. Events will begin at 1pm.
