Men's Swimming and Diving Falls To Union and Hartwick

Oneonta, N.Y. - January 9, 2016 -The Springfield College men's swimming and diving team competed in a tri-meet with Union and Hartwick on Saturday afternoon.  The Pride was defeated by Union, 159-135, and host Hartwick, 195-78.

Springfield placed third in the 200 medley relay after Daniel Fay (Yorktown, N.Y.), Austin Von Heeringen (Germantown, Md.), Michael Normoyle (Springfield, Mass.), and Tim DeCoste (Greenville, N.Y.) swam a 1:42.64.

Indivdually, Normoyle had the Pride's top finish of the afternoon as he tied for first in the 100 breast with a 1:00.10.  The senior also took second in the 200 breast in 2:16.98.

Kent Parsons (Hamilton, Mass.) tied for second in the 100 free in 50.09 and touched third in the 200 free in 1:50.02 as well as the 50 free with a 22.83.

Additionally, Von Herringen swam to a third-place finish in the 500 free 5:03.85.

The Pride closed out the meet finishing third in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:21.43 by Sammy Grudzien (Fiskdale, Mass.), Fay, Alex Beauvais (Ispwich, Mass.), and Parsons.

Springfield will take on New York University at 1:00 next Saturday.
