Men's Swimming and Diving Competes in Opening Day of Ithaca Invitational

Ithaca, N.Y. - December 2, 2016 - The Springfield College men's swimming and diving team competed in five events on the Friday night open of the Ithaca Invitational. 

The three-day competition opened with the 500 free where the Pride's Austin Von Heeringen (Germanstown, Md.) finished in a time of 4:53.17. 

In the 200 IM, Kent Parsons (Hamilton, Mass.) led the Pride with a time of 2:00.08. Meanwhile, Sam Fox (Providence, R.I.) competed in the 50 Free and touched the wall in 29.02.

The 200 Medley team of Sean Harnish (Middlebury, Conn.), Erik McKenna (Stamford, Conn.), Von Heerigen, and Parsons raced to a fifth-place performance in 1:37.63. 
In the 1 meter diving event, freshman Valmore Stewart (Windsor, Conn.) finished fifth with a score of 348.15. 

The Pride will be back in action tomorrow at 10am for the second day of the Ithaca Invitational.
