Men's Swimming and Diving Wraps Up Ithaca Invitational

Ithaca, N.Y. - December 4, 2016 - The Springfield College men's swimming and diving team closed out competition at the Ithaca Invitational on Sunday evening, finishing in eighth place with 595 points.

Austin Von Heeringen (Germantown, Md.) had Springfield's top performance of the day, coming in second in the 200 back with a time of 1:54.09. Freshman Erik McKenna (Stamford, Conn.) was the Pride's other top finisher, posting a 1:59.05 to earn 12th place.

Sunday's competition kicked off with the 1650 free, in which Roberto Morales (Westfield, Mass.) took 13th with a time of 17:41.41. Kyle Bauer (Bath, Maine) was the next of the Pride's top performances, as he posted a 51.71 in the 100 free.

In the 200 breast, Kent Parsons (Hamilton, Mass.) recorded a time of 2:13.11, resulting in a 10th place finish.

The day ended with an eight place performance in the 400 free relay by the team of McKenna, Von Heeringen, Parsons, and Sean Harnish (Middlebury, Conn.), who clocked in at 3:14.06.

The Pride are back in action on Saturday, December 10, when it hosts Middlebury College at home in Art Linkletter Natatorium.
