Men's Swimming and Diving Kicks Off 2017 NEWMAC Championships

Worcester, Mass. - February 16, 2017 - The Springfield College men's swimming and diving team kicked off competition at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships on Thursday evening at WPI's Alumni Natatorium. The weekend's competition began with the 800 free relay and 3-meter diving. 

In the 800 free relay, the team of Austin Von Heeringen (Germantown, Md.), Tim DeCoste (Greenville, R.I.), Sean Harnish (Middlebury, Conn.), and Kent Parsons (Hamilton, Mass.) tied for fourth with a time of 7:00.44. 

Senior Nicholas Sullivan (Wrentham, Mass.), the Pride's only competitor on the 3-meter board, finished with a score of 344.90 on the evening en route to taking ninth in the event. 

The Pride return to NEWMAC action tomorrow at 10 am for day two of championship competition.
