Springfield, Mass. - February 3, 2019 - In the final meet of the regular-season, the Springfield College men's swimming and diving team was defeated by visiting Amherst College, 179-105, on Sunday. The Mammoths were ranked 11th in the latest CSCAA Division III National rankings heading into the meet.
Luca Brashear (Amherst,, Mass.) took second on the three-meter board after notching a 472.28 and would add a 468.00 on the one-meter board for the Pride as well. Both marks proved to be national-qualifying scores in the 11-dive championship format.
Erik Jensen (Hainesport, N.J.) registered a 53.32 in the 100 fly and recorded a 5:06.63 in the 500 free, while Sean Harnish (Middlebury, Conn.) placed second in the 50 back with a 25.47 and registered a 49.70 in the 100 free.
In the 200 free, Nicholas Smith's (Longmeadow, Mass.) was third in 1:50.31, Sean Mitchell (Canton, Mass.) completed the 100 breast in 1:06.41, while Michael Allo (Newington, Conn.) totaled a 4:35.88 in the 400 IM and a 59.69 in the 100 IM.
In the 100 back, Christopher Schreiner (Fairfield, Conn.) swam a 59.43 before later posting a 26.09 in the 50 fly. Anthony Soares (Worcester, Mass.) completed the 50 breast in 29.33 and Daniel Forsythe (East Providence, R.I.) posted a 23.38 in the 50 free
In the final event of the day, the 200 free relay team of Mitchell, Jensen, Harnish, and Smith combined for a 1:30.48.
