Avdoulos Repeats As NEWMAC Men's Diving Coach of the Year To Highlight Postseason Accolades

Springfield, Mass. - February 28, 2019 - Springfield College's Pete Avdoulos highlighted the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving yearly accolades as he was named the men's diving coach of the year for the second-consecutive season.

Avdolous was honored as the NEWMAC Men's Diving Coach of the Year for the 14th time in his career as he helped lead a men's diving group to impressive levels.  Sophomore Connor Pennington (Monson, Mass.) won the conference championship on the one-meter board finished second on the three-meter board to earn a pair of all-conference honors.  The Pride will send four men's divers to the upcoming NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Championships, as Pennington will be joined by teammates Valmore Stewart (Windsor, Conn.), Luca Brashear (Amherst, Mass.), and Sean Andrews (Framingham, Mass.).  Springfield is one of only two programs in the region to send at least four men's divers to the regional stage.

In addition to Pennington's all-conference honors on the diving boards, Olivia Paione (Auburn, Maine) earned two NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team honors as she was the runner-up in both the 100 breast (1:05.83) and 200 breast (2:23.57).
