Lake Nona, Fla. - March 18, 2019 - Competing for the first time on their Spring Break trip to Florida, the Springfield College men's tennis team was bested by Concordia Wisconsin by a 7-2 decision on Monday afternoon.
With the loss, Springfield's record drop to 1-2 on the year.
Despite dropping all three doubles points, Springfield battled tough in the early going. The top team of Court Honda (Morioka, Japan) and Drew DeLorenzo (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) were edged by an 8-7 (4) count and Freddie Moffa (Granby, Conn.) and Jack Anastopoulos (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) were clipped, 8-6, at the No. 2 spot.
The Pride was able to pick up two victories in singles play, with Honda cruising at the No. 1 position by a score of 6-4, 6-2, and Moffa prevailing at No. 3, 7-6, 6-4.
Next up for Springfield will be a match versus Hamline on Wednesday that is slated for a 3 pm start.
