Angelo Posillico Named the Director of Cross Country and Track & Field at Springfield College

Springfield, Mass. - July 13, 2016 - Springfield College Director of Athletics, Dr. Craig Poisson, is pleased to announce that Angelo Posillico has been named the Director of Cross Country and Track & Field at Springfield College.

Posillico spent the previous four seasons as the head coach for men's and women's cross country and track and field at SUNY Oneonta.

"I am thrilled for this opportunity to join Springfield College and lead a set of programs that are so rich in tradition. On my interview, Dr. Poisson shared with me his vision to create the preeminent Division III student-athlete experience. It was at the moment that I knew Springfield College would be the perfect fit for me. I would like to thank Dr. Poisson as well as Kiki Jacobs and the rest of the search committee for their confidence in selecting me as the ideal candidate," said Posillico.  "I look forward to working hard towards our competitive goals, while embracing the philosophy of development of the whole person in spirit, mind, and body."

During his time at Oneonta, Posillico established the Red Dragons as one of the top programs in the region, while developing student-athletes who were successful both in the classroom and on the national stage.  Under his direction, Oneonta had 30 All-Americans in cross country and track & field, four NCAA Division III individual national champions, a Division III National Athlete of the Year, and captured five SUNYAC Track & Field Team Championships.  From an academic standpoint, Oneonta garnered 19 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team recognitions and had 21 USTFCCCA All-Academic individual honorees.

"As we shift into a new coaching structure for our track and field and cross country programs, I'm looking forward to having Coach Posillico, as our director of cross country and track & field, lead our men and women student-athletes and provide them a first-class experience throughout the academic year," described Poisson.  "I'm confident that as a teacher coach, he'll continue to build on our storied tradition of excellence at Springfield College."

Before taking over the reins of both the track & field and cross country programs at Oneonta, Posillico served as the head cross country coach and associate track & field coach at Oneonta from 2010-2013.  During his tenure at Oneonta, Posillico garnered three USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Track & Field Coach of the Year honors and four SUNYAC Head Track & Field Coach of the Year accolades.  He also spent two years as an assistant coach with the men's and women's cross country and track & field programs at the University of Redlands where he implemented a national recruiting strategy.

As a student-athlete at Oneonta, Posillico was a three-time SUNYAC all-academic selection in track & field and graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Biology.  He later earned his Masters degree in Higher Education when he graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Redlands.
