Staten Island, N.Y. - February 24, 2018 - Competing at the 2018 Fastrack Last Chance Invitational in the Ocean Breeze Athletics Center, Jack Pinho (Prospect, Conn.) continued his remarkable senior season, as he broke the one mile record, clocking in at 4:07.89 to take second overall competing against Division I student-athletes.
This marks the third Springfield College men's indoor track and field record that Pinho has broken this season, as he now holds the program's best mark in the mile, the 800 meter run (1:52.11) and the 1000 meter run (2:25.09). In fact, the Physical Education major has now taken down 108 years of indoor track and field records at Springfield College, as the mile record was previously held by Charles Duggan, who ran a time of 4:07.9 in 1975. Pinho also ranks No. 7 in all of Division III in the 800 and No. 6 in the country in the mile.
Also competing at the 2018 Fastrack Last Chance Invitational, Owen Ross (Closter, N.J.) had a 22-second personal record in the 3000 meter run, as the junior turned in a time of 9:06.30.
Springfield College will now compete at the Boston University Last Chance Meet on Sunday, February 24 at 1 p.m.
