Pinho Smashes 1500 Meter Record at Swarthmore Final Qualifying Meet

Swarthmore, Pa. - May 14, 2018 - Springfield College's Jack Pinho (Prospect, Conn.) continued his dominant senior campaign, as he posted a time of 3:47.90 in the 1500 meter race at the Swarthmore Final Qualifying Meet on Monday evening, taking 11th overall in the field of 109 student-athletes from Division I, II and III.

Pinho's mark of 3:47.90 not only moved the senior into No. 6 in all of Division III, but he also broke the Springfield College men's outdoor track and field program record in the event, which was previously held by Ryan O'Connell, who posted a time of 3:51.91 in 2012.

It has been a phenomenal 2017-18 season for Pinho, as this is now the fourth program record he has broken this season, and fifth overall between indoor and outdoor. During the 2017-18 indoor season, Pinho broke the Springfield College men's track and field program records in the 800 meter, 1000 meter and one mile races, while the Physical Education major previously broke a 21-year old record in the 800 meter race at the MIT Final Qualifying meet on May 18, 2017.

Next up, senior Whit DeVaux (Wethersfield, Conn.) will compete in the javelin throw at the MIT Final Qualifying Meet on Thursday, May 17.
