Boston, Mass. - February 1, 2019 - Four members of the Springfield College men's track and field program competed at the 51st NEICAAA All New England Championships, which began on Friday afternoon at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston, Mass.
Competing against student-athletes from Division I, II and III, junior Tyler Hansen (Shelton, Conn.) had an impressive day as he began with the 60 meter dash prelims, and took 17th overall with a time of 7.12 seconds, before coming back in the 200 meter dash prelims and recording a time of 22.16 seconds to take seventh overall. Hansen's seventh-place finish in the 200 meter dash prelims solidified his place in Saturday's final.
Additionally, Cormac Tolan (Greenville, N.Y.) had an impressive showing in the 500 meter race, as he took 21st overall with a time of 1:07.00, and was the first Division III student-athlete across the line. Senior Jarod Authier (Chicopee, Mass.) competed in the men's long jump, and produced a mark of 6.40 meters, or 21 feet, placing 21st in the meet.
Hansen, along with graduate student Jack Pinho (Prospect, Conn.) and sophomore Josh Silvester (Manchester, Conn.) will compete at the All New England Championships on Saturday, while the rest of the team will travel to Middletown, Conn. for the Wesleyan Indoor Invitational, beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 2.
