Men's Track and Field Hosts Triangle Classic

Springfield, Mass. - February 16, 2019 - The Springfield College men's track and field team competed in the Triangle Classic in the Springfield College Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.

Cormac Tolan (Greenville, N.Y.) was able to to best the competition in the 800 meter with a first place time of 1:56.26 and Ben Batoosingh (Scarborough, Maine) collected a first-place finish in the 200 meter as he crossed the finish line in just 22.74 seconds. Batoosingh also landed in fifth in the 60 meter dash with a mark of 7.14 to highlight the Pride's efforts on the day. Damian Mackay-Morgan (Simsbury, Conn.) ran well as he sprinted to a 8.45 second time in the 60 meter hurdles which placed him third, while Emmanuel Amenlehah (Pittsfield, Mass.) ran the 200 meter in 23.40 to take fifth place.

In mid-distance, Kris Rhim (Philadelphia, Pa.) was the top finisher for Springfield with a sixth place finish in the 600 meter as he clocked in at 1:25.36. Liam Murphy (Patterson, N.Y.) crossed the finish line for Springfield with a 5:13.33 mark in the mile to place him 10th in the event for the day, and Russell Allen (Auburn, Maine.) was able to tally a top three finish in the 1000 meter as he crossed the finish line in 2:36.15.

In the field events, Daniel Stevenson (Meriden, Conn.) registered a toss of 13.22m or 43' 4.50" in the weight throw, and also posted a distance of 11.93m or 39-01.75 in the shot put. Jarod Authier (Chicopee, Mass.) finished second in the long jump with a leap of 6.72 meters or 22' 0.75", while Kyle Kublbeck (Gardner, Mass.) was able to clear 1.95m or 6' 4.75" in the high jump which placed him as the runner-up.

The 4x400 relay squad for the Pride finished in second place with a combined mark of 3:33.76.

Springfield will next send qualifiers to the Division III New England Championships, which will be held at MIT on February 22-23.
