Men's Cross Country Takes 14th at Connecticut College Invitational

Waterford, Conn.-October 18, 2014- Springfield College men's cross country placed 14th of 18 this afternoon at the Connecticut College Invitational.  Joe Geurds (Albany, N.Y.) was the top finisher for the Pride as he took 51st in a time of 27:14. 

New York University took the title as they tallied 64 points in their route through Harkness Memorial State Park.  NYU was followed by Coast Guard (76), Connecticut College (87), Keene State (144) and New Paltz State (151).

Geurds was followed by Jacob Simons (Naugatuck, Conn.) who crossed the finish in 28:24.

Zack Guptill (New Milford, Conn.) landed a time of 28:27 for Springfield, while Scott Bushey (Hebron, Conn.) and Ben Malin (Easton, Mass) were the final to round out the Pride's top five finishers.

Bushey who paced who paced himself to a 5:45 mile finished in 28:35.  Malin posted a 29:28 time in the 8K.

The Pride will resume competition on November 1st when they head to Smith College to race in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships.
