Boston, Mass. - September 15, 2015 - Springfield College sophomore Johnny O'Hanlon (Haworth, N.J.) was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week after a standout performance last Saturday.
The History/Secondary Education double major led Springfield to the team title at the Smith College Invitational as he won the individual title with a 5K time of 16:47.0.
O'Hanlon ran an average mile time of 5:24 as he placed first out of 63 runners, becoming the first Springfield runner to win the Smith Invitational since 2012. In fact, it was the first team title for the Pride in head coach Bryan Brown's five seasons as the helm of the program.
Springfield will race again Saturday, Sept. 19th at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
