Men's Cross Country Competes at Purple Valley Classic

Williamstown, Mass. - September 26, 2015 -The Springfield College men's cross country team competed at the Purple Valley Classic on Saturday afternoon, placing 17th out of 25 teams.

Johnny O'Hanlon (Haworth, N.J.) led the Pride in the 8K race with a time of 27:14.1, placing 58th, while teammate Jacob Simons (Nagutuck, Conn.) finished in a time of 28:38.4, placing 135th.

Brishen Dearborn (Wethersfield, Conn.) ran the course in a time of 30:19.1 and Austin Ramos (Evans, Ga.) crossed the finish line at 31.06.0, placing 198th and 213th respectively. Rounding out the top six for Springfield was Ben Malin (Easton, Mass.) with a time of 31:35.9, and Dave Ryskowski (Bristol, Conn.) with a time of 34:21.9. 

In the 5K race, Jack Pinho (Prospect, Conn.) came in 5th place overall with a time of 16:47.5, while Owen Ross (Closter, N.J.) came in 31st place with a time of 18:04.6. 

Amherst won the 8K varsity race with 42 points, beating Williams (45) and SUNY Geneseo (55) points. MIT (98 points) and Pamona-Pitzer (115 points) placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

The 5K open race was won by Saint Rose (41), followed closely by Williams (43). Rounding out the top five was Tufts (51), Coast Guard (118) and Springfield (125). 

The Pride will compete again at the New England Championships on Saturday, October 10th.
