Men's and Women's Cross Country Named USTFCCCA Division III All-Academic Teams

New Orleans, La. - February 24, 2016 - The Springfield College men's and women's cross country teams were honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as a Division III All-Academic Teams earlier this week.

Overall, 207 women's teams and 151 men's teams earned All-Academic honors. To be considered an All-Academic Team, programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.10 or greater and competed in at least five different meets with at least five runners representing their school at each.

The men's cross country program posted a team GPA of 3.497 and was among 151 men's teams in the country that earned All-Academic Team honors for the 2014 season. Of the Division III teams in New England, the Pride ranked No. 3 in the region. The Springfield College women's cross country team was also honored, making the Pride one of 207 programs in the country to earn the award with team GPA of 3.38.

Additionally, 10 student-athletes across the two programs earned New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference honors for earning a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2015 spring semester, achieving second year academic status at her institution, and being a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
