Springfield, Mass. - March 9, 2017 - Senior center Ava Adamopoulos (Ludlow, Mass.) of the Springfield College women's basketball team continues to be recognized for her outstanding senior season, as she has been named to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Women's Basketball All Star Team, announced on Thursday morning.
Over the course of the 2016-17 season, Adamopoulos averaged 14.9 points and 8.3 rebounds in just 23.8 minutes per contest, helping the Pride to an overall record of 20-9, the Pride's most wins since the 2005-06 season. Adamopoulos, who shot 50.4 percent (183-for-363) on the season, totaled 431 points during the 2016-17 campaign, which was the most for a member of the women's basketball program at Springfield College since Courtney Parvin '06 scored 434 points during the 2004-05 season.
Adamopoulos posted eight double doubles on the year and was recognized by the NEWMAC, New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) and Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) on January 9 after averaging 19.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks in a pair of wins over Clark and MIT.
In addition to being named an ECAC Division III New England Women's Basketball All Star, Adamopoulos was selected to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference First Team following her special senior season.
