Women's Gymnastics Slotted No. 6 in National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Rankings

Springfield, Mass. - January 14, 2019 - Following its season-opening meet this past weekend, the Springfield College women's gymnastics team is ranked No. 6 in the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) National Rankings, which were made public on Monday morning.

The Pride, which was led by the efforts of senior Jess Clemens (South Setauket, N.Y.) and junior Tali Twomey (Cotuit, Mass.), the Pride totaled a team score of 183.300 during a quad meet that featured the Pride, Rhode Island College, Ursinus College and Brockport.

Clemens finished second in the all-around competition with a score of 36.700, highlighted by her uneven bars score of 9.575, which was the top score in the meet. Twomey was the top finisher on a pair of events, as she won the vault with a 9.500 and also won the floor exercise with a 9.825. 

The Pride also received impressive performances from Heather Gomes (Beverly, Mass.), who notched a 9.325 on vault, while Ali Rushlow (Worcester, Mass.) produced a 9.675 on floor, just ahead of Clemens and Victoria Gendreau (Warren, R.I.), who scored a 9.450.

Next up, Springfield College will travel to Ithaca College on Saturday, January 19, and will take on the Bombers and Brockport. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m.
