Bristol, R.I. - January 6, 2019 - Several members of the Springfield College wrestling team competed at the Scott Viera Open at Roger Williams University on Sunday.  12 different institutions from across the Northeast were represented in the non-team scoring event.

At 184 pounds, Seve Burgos (Guilford, Conn.) finished second overall as he bested Wesleyan's Duncan Kreutter, 9-1, before he was pinned by Plymouth State's Dylan Da silva in 2:37 in the championship bout.

Dillan Palaszewski (Galway, N.Y.) had a strong showing as he placed third at 165 pounds.  Palaszewski opened the day with a 6-2 win over Chris Behen from JWU before he then pinned LIU Post's Justin Popp in 2:18 and put Conor Panzarella from Roger Williams on his back in only 1:12.  In the semifinals, Roy Forys from Wesleyan delivered a win by pinfall in 1:07, but Palaszewski showed plenty of resolve in the consolation bracket, pinning Clay Keller from the Naval Academy Prep School in 2:26 and Kenny Cooper from LIU Post in 2:28 in the third-place match.
