Springfield, Mass. - March 5, 2019 - For the first time in his career, Ian Tolotti (Dumont, N.J.) will represent Springfield College the 2019 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships this weekend in Roanoke, Virginia on March 8-9.
Tolotti earned a spot in the national tournament after placing in the top three at the 2019 NCAA Division III Wrestling Northeast Regional Championships on February 24 at Johnson & Wales University. The Sports Biology major took third at the 133 pound weight class as he won four-straight matches in the consolation bracket to earn a spot on the national stage.
Entering the competition with a 23-6 record this season, Tolotti's first match on Friday morning will come against sixth-seeded Charles Nash from Baldwin-Wallace, who enters the tournament with a 26-9 mark. The winner of that match will advance to face off with against either Josh Stenger from Wis.-La Crosse or the winner of the draw-in match between third-seeded Brock Rathbun of Wartburg or Ricky Cavallo from Johns Hopkins.
