Boston, Mass. - October 31, 2016 - Springfield College's Ciara Boucher (Manchester, Conn.) has been selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference offices on Monday morning.
Boucher, a junior goalkeeper and Psychology major at Springfield College, helped the Pride to a 2-0 week, including shut-out victories over Roger Williams and Wellesley. Boucher, who is ranked in the top three in the NEWMAC in goals-against average, save percentage and total goals allowed, posted eight saves on the week, as the Pride has not allowed a goal in the last 380 minutes of play.
Heading into the postseason, Boucher, along with the rest of the Pride is 7-2-1 in its last 10 games, and will look to claim its fifth-consecutive NEWMAC Championship in 2016. The Pride will begin with a NEWMAC Quarterfinal matchup with Emerson on Tuesday, November 1 at 7 p.m. on Brock-Affleck Field.
