Kingston, R.I. - October 29, 2016 - The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team raced against the University of Rhode Island and the Coast Guard Academy on Saturday afternoon at the Ed & Judy Golden Invitational.
The Pride edged Coast Guard, 166.5-131.5 and was bested by URI, 174-117.
Springfield opened up meet with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay as Haley Nolan (Lowell, Mass.), Christine Shea (Peabody, Mass.), Emily Medeiros (Wakefield, Mass.), and Olivia Paione (Auburn, Maine) combined for a 1:56.02.
Medeiros swam the fastest time in the 200 breast when he touched in 2:28.00, while Shea touched second in the 100 breast with a time of 1:09.45. Kassandra Lamb (Reading, Mass.) won the 200 IM in 2:16.43 and recorded a 5:20.31 in the 500 freestyle for third-place points.
Sierra Skaza (Belchertown, Mass.) was the runner-up in the one-meter diving competition after compiling a score of 199.50 and placed third on the three-meter with a 239.40
The Pride will compete again next Sunday when it travels to face MIT.
