Springfield, Mass. - March 13, 2017 - Senior Emily Medeiros (Wakefield, Mass.) will represent Springfield College at the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, which will be held March 15-18 at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas.
Medeiros, a Physical Therapy major, will be making her fourth-consecutive trip to the national stage, and is coming off a pair of New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship swims in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Medeiros is seeded in the top 10 overall in two events as she enters the competition with the eighth fastest time this year in the 100 breast (1:03.09) and the 10th fastest 200 breast time (2:18.15). In addition, Medeiros will also swim in the 100 fly, where her time of 59.99 allowed her to be an optional entry in the event.
Medeiros has excelled each time she has appeared in the national meet, including last year when she put together an incredible performance, earning All-America honors in both the 100 and 200 breast as she placed fourth and sixth, respectively. In 2015, Medeiros placed fifth in the 100 breast and was an Honorable Mention All-America in the 200. Earlier this year, she finished the career sweep of the breaststroke events at the NEWMAC Championships, winning both the 100 and 200 breaststroke championships in each of her four years.
