Luscier Wins 60 Meter Dash as Women's Track and Field Competes at Division III New England Championships

Cambridge, Mass. - February 18, 2017  – Standout junior Courtney Luscier (Pittsfield, Mass.) won the 60 meter dash in a time of 7.77 seconds, as the Springfield College women's track and field team competed in the Division III New England Championships on Saturday at MIT.

The Pride placed 13th overall, as it acquired 18 points on the afternoon. MIT took first overall with 149 points, while Williams College followed with 140. Next was a three-way tie for third between Tufts, Middlebury and Bates, which each earned 62 points over the weekend.

After running a season-best 7.74 in prelims, Luscier came back with a 7.77 in the finals to win a Division III New England Championship in the 60 meter dash. The junior also took 11th overall in the 200 meter run, as she clocked in at 26.60.

Also impressive on the day was senior Carly Markos (Wallkill, N.Y.), who earned second place in the weight throw with a toss of 56 feet, 0.25 inches. Markos also competed in the shot put, where she finished 14th, while freshman Morgan Knowlton (Auburn, Maine) took 13th with a throw of 36 feet, 8.5 inches. 

Senior Sarah Skillin (Fall River, Mass.) finished the 1,000 meter run with a time of 3:09.71, while Kathryn Rowe (Mansfield, Mass.) completed the 400 meter run in a time of 1:01.76.

The Pride will compete in the All New England Championships next weekend at Boston University.
