Women's Track and Field Competes at New England NEICAAA Championships

Boston, Mass. - February 25, 2017 - The Springfield College women's track and field team competed at the New England NEICAAA Championships, hosted by Boston University this past weekend, where the Pride finished 23rd overall with eight points.

Competing on Friday night, senior Carly Markos (Wallkill, N.Y.) continued to shine, as she once again broke her own Springfield College women's indoor track and field school record in the weight throw, posting a distance of 59 feet, 8.5 inches to take second overall in the event.

Also competing on Friday night was junior Courtney Luscier (Pittsfield, Mass.) who finished in 22nd in the 200 meter prelims with a time of 26.40 seconds, and the Distance Medley Relay team of Sarah Skillin (Fall River, Mass.), Macayla LaChance (Peabody, Mass.), Kristen Madeia (Berlin, Conn.) and Marie Harrington (Limerick, Maine), which took 12th overall with a time of 12:41.05.

On Saturday, the Pride was led by the 4x400 relay team of Abbie McCann (Northborough, Mass.), Skillin, Madeia and Kathryn Rowe (Mansfield, Mass.), who took 17th overall with a time of 4:07.48.

Up next, Springfield College will compete in the ECAC Championships on Friday, March 3 and Saturday, March 4, in its last meet before the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.
