Springfield, Mass. - October 1, 2018 - Springfield College's Sara Labadorf (Huntersville, N.C.) was honored for her standout play by being selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Volleyball Offensive Athlete of the Week.
The first-year setter ranks second in the NEWMAC in assists per set and total aces, and racked up 96 assists and averaged 10.46 per set in three wins last week. Springfield remains one of only two teams in the conference without a loss in NEWMAC play.
In a five-set win at Coast Guard on Tuesday, Labadorf totaled 48 assists, eight digs, and four aces before she posted 40 assists and seven digs in a sweep of Union on Thursday when the Pride hit a season-best .400 as a squad. In Saturday's showdown with Wellesley, the Health Science major helped the Pride hand the Blue their first loss of the season as she was credited with 48 assists and five digs. In her first year directing Springfield's offense, the Pride rank in the top 25 nationally in team hitting percentage.
Springfield will next hit the courts on Tuesday night when it hosts Smith at 7 pm.
