Women's Cross Country Races to Top 25 Finish at NCAA Division III Regional Championships

Gorham, Maine - November 11, 2017 - The Springfield College women's cross country team improved seven places from last years performance at the NCAA Division III Regional Championships, as the Pride took 22nd overall on the 5k course, hosted at Gorham Country Club, just outside of Portland, Maine.

The Pride totaled 739 points in the race, as MIT won with 58 points and was trailed by Tufts (92), Williams (106), Middlebury (113) and Bates (150).

In her first-ever NCAA Division III Regional Championship race, junior Kristen Madeia (Berlin, Conn.) finished 45th overall with a personal-best time of 22:25.9, while she was followed by Hannah Wunderlich (Methuen, Mass.), who was the Pride's second finisher with a career-best time of 23:23.3. Next, Abigail Murdock (Westerly, R.I.) crossed in 24:29.4, while she was closely followed by Laura Volan (Scarborough, Maine), who completed the course in 24:32.1.

Rounding out Springfield College's top five was Emily Giardino (Bellingham, Mass.), who notched a time of 24:58.9, while Deanna Carlone (Canastota, N.Y.) posted a time of 25:33.1 and Macayla LaChance (Peabody, Mass.) finished with a 25:48.6.
