Westfield, Mass. - October 6, 2018 - The Springfield College women's cross country team competed at the James Earley Invitational on Saturday afternoon, a 5k race that was hosted by Westfield State University. The Pride took 15th overall as it totaled 371 points on the afternoon.
Freshman Olivia Turk (Danbury, Conn.) led the maroon and white as she clocked in at 20:28.77, as she was followed by Sophia Andrew (Newtown, Conn.) who came in at 20:36.99. Deanna Carlone (Canastota, N.Y.) was the Pride's third-best on the afternoon as she clocked in at 21:06.54, just ahead of Gabby DeRose (Wilbraham, Mass.), who notched a time of 21:13.25.
Rounding out the top five for Springfield was Kathryn Laughlin (East Longmeadow, Mass.), as she finished the course in 21:30.91, while Allison Gunter (East Hartford, Conn.) posted a time of 21:36.25. Finishing up the day for the maroon and white was Marissa Paolangeli (Tolland, Conn.), who registered a time of 21:44.67, while Tess Chilcott (Pembroke, Mass.) clocked in at 23:02.40.
Springfield College will return to competition on Saturday, October 13 when it races at the Connecticut College Invitational, which will be hosted at Harkness Memorial State Park in New London, Conn.
