Springfield, Mass. - July 22, 2019 - Springfield College's Nick Bainter (East Bridgewater, Mass.) was recently announced as a member of the 2019 College Football America Yearbook's NCAA Division III Preseason Starting Lineup, CFAY's version of an All-America team.
One of just 26 student-athletes from across the country to garner the preseason honor, Bainter is the only student-athlete from New England to be recognized. This marks the second-straight season that a Springfield College student-athlete has picked up preseason attention from CFAY, as defensive lineman Nick Giorgio '19 was named to the starting lineup in 2018.
One of Springfield's captains for the upcoming 2019 season, Bainter is coming off a junior campaign in which he became the first center in Springfield College football history to be named to the D3football.com All-America team. The Criminal Justice major helped lead Springfield to the nation's seventh-best rushing attack as the Pride averaged over 295 rushing yards per game and ranked first in the country yards per completion (19.12 ypc). A D3football All-East Region and NEWMAC First Team selection for the second-straight year, Bainter was a key reason why Springfield reached over 300 rushing yards in seven outings, over 400 yards twice, and had the ball on offense for at least 28 minutes in all 11 games. Springfield has registered 18 wins in the last two seasons with Bainter as the starting center, the program's most over a two-year span since 2003-04.
The 2019 College Football America Yearbook features more than 930 college football teams from the United States and Canada in more than 250 striking, full-color pages. That includes every team from the NCAA (FBS, FCS, Division II and Division III), NAIA, NJCAA, CCCAA and U Sports (Canada). It also includes updates on club football, one-year postgraduate prep/sports academies and Mexican college football, along with dozens of action shots and stadium photos taken by the CFAY staff.
The print edition is available online via Amazon.com and other major retailers such as Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million.
